§ 41. Mr. Bidwellasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what is her policy regarding allowing viable schemes for comprehensive education to go ahead in one part of a local education authority area when there are no immediate workable schemes for a whole local education area.
§ Mrs. ThatcherIt is open to a local education authority to submit statutory proposals under Section 13 of the Education Act relating to the introduction of a comprehensive scheme for any part of its area and I will consider them on their merits.

Mr. Terry Davisasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether she will list in the OFFICIAL REPORT all the proposals for comprehensive reorganisation which are waiting for her approval; the dates on which the period for objections expired; how many objections were received; and the dates on which the local education authorities have suggested that their proposals should come into effect.
