Whether they will make a statement on the rate of Peers' expenses allowance.
THE LORD PRIVY SEAL (EARL JELLICOE)My Lords, the Government have decided that the rate of Peers' daily expenses allowance should be raised from the present level of £6.50 to £8. 50. This new rate will be effective from January 1, 1972. I will, therefore, move the necessary Resolution in this House to-morrow, Thursday, December 16.
