§ 51. Mr. Allasonasked the Secretary of State for the Environment when he expects that gantry signals on the southern end of the M1 will be operational; and if he will make a statement about the delay in providing them.
§ Mr. Michael HeseltineThe present temporary emergency warning signals over the whole length of the M1 are being progressively replaced by computer-controlled signals. These are already operational on the M1 in Yorkshire, and I expect that the gantry signals at the southern end of the M1 will be operational by mid-1972. Delays have been caused by technical problems.
