§ Mr. Channon2.5 per cent. of the population of England lived in households renting their accommodation furnished from a private person or company, according to the results of the Sample Census of 1966. The corresponding percentages for Greater London, Birmingham and Newcastle were 6.1, 3.9 and 3.0, respectively.
