§ Mr. Dudley SmithEstimates of the numbers of married female employees, employed and unemployed, are made for each mid-year and at June, 1964, the number was 4,440,000. The figure for June, 1970, the latest date for which information is available, was 5,388,000. Between these dates the method of calculation was altered and the figures are therefore not strictly comparable. The numbers of married woman registered as unemployed at October, 1964, and October, 1971, were 41,674 and 44,839, respectively.
