§ Mr. Goldingasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry (1) whether he proposes to accept the recommendation of the Select Committee on Science and Technology that purchase preference be given to those firms which contribute most to the economy and to national objectives in the computer field;
(2) whether he accepts the recommendation of the Select Committee on Science and Technology that the Government should sponsor a substantial programme of development for computer hardware, software and related electronics.
