§ Mr. Martenasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what relation world food prices bear to the rates on 5th July; and, in particular, what change there has been in forward grain prices.
§ Mr. PriorI assume my hon. Friend has in mind the extent to which movements in world prices have accounted for increases in retail food prices. I have no information on this for the period since 5th July, but would refer him to the replies I gave to my hon. Friend the Member for Truro (Mr. Dixon) on 20th July and to the reply I gave to my hon. friend the Member for Rye (Mr. Bryant Godman Irvine) on 2nd August.
In general forward grain prices have fallen over the past month, the extent varying according to the type concerned.—[Vol. 821, c. 1247–9; Vol. 822, c. 231–2.]
