HC Deb 05 August 1971 vol 822 c469W
Mr. Michael Cocks

asked the Minister for the Civil Service which Departments have increased their establishment of psychologists in the past year; what was the reason for these increases; how many of these psychologists were employed on work for any other branch of the Government service; and what was this work.

Mr. David Howell

The number of psychologists in post in the Civil Service Department, Ministry of Defence, Department of Employment and Home Office increased in the 12 months up to 1st April, 1971, the latest date for which information is available centrally. The Civil Service Department recruited additional psychologists to advise on management services, personnel selection and other matters concerning staff. All are employed on work for Government Departments. Questions about the reasons for the increases in other Departments should be addressed to the Ministers in charge of them.
