asked the Lord President of the Council what was the cost of the House of Commons Library in respect of salaries and acquisitions, respectively, in 1970–71.

The cost of salaries of the Department of the Library of the House of Commons in 1970–71 was £132,804; the cost of books/periodicals etc. during the same period was £17,973.
