§ Mr. Crawshawasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what added safety precautions he proposes to make obligatory in the storage of naptha and other inflammatory liquids in the light of the report recently published on the causes of leakage from the Esso petroleum tanks situated at St. Michaels-in-the-Hamlet, Toxteth, Liverpool.
§ Mr. SharplesThe imposition of conditions governing the storage of substances such as naptha to which the Petroleum (Consolidation) Act, 1928, applies is a matter for the local licensing authorities 375W under the Act. I understand that the licence for the installation involved in this incident has already been modified in the light of the recommendations contained in the report to which the hon. Member refers. My right hon. Friend is considering the issue of further guidance to licensing authorities generally.
