HC Deb 05 August 1971 vol 822 c454W
Mr. David Clark

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what discussions he has had with the European Economic Community countries with the object of initiating a study group to investigate the problem of international trade in textiles.

Mr. Noble

We keep in touch with the E.E.C. Commission on textile matters, including the possibility of such a study.

Mr. David Clark

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what preferential tariffs the wool textile industry enjoys in its exports to Australia, New Zealand and Canada; and what these would be on Great Britain's entry to the European Economic Community.

Mr. Noble

The rates vary so widely among the numerous tariff headings involved that I will place suitable extracts of the tariffs concerned in the Library. In the event of United Kingdom entry into the E.E.C. rates of duty payable will be for decision by the three countries concerned.
