§ Mr. Roderickasked the Secretary of State for Wales what estimate he has made of the impact of the new arrangements on council house building in Wales; and whether he considers the new proposals will result in an improved performance in the number of houses built in Wales in 1971–72 and 1972–73.
§ Mr. Peter ThomasI have not made an estimate in these terms, and do not intend to do so. I am confident that local authorities and private builders alike will carefully assess local needs and build to meet them. We are providing a sound financial basis to enable them to do this.
