HC Deb 05 August 1971 vol 822 c473W
Mr. Roderick

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what estimate he has made of the impact of the new arrangements on council house building in Wales; and whether he considers the new proposals will result in an improved performance in the number of houses built in Wales in 1971–72 and 1972–73.

Mr. Peter Thomas

I have not made an estimate in these terms, and do not intend to do so. I am confident that local authorities and private builders alike will carefully assess local needs and build to meet them. We are providing a sound financial basis to enable them to do this.
