§ 42. Mr. Marksasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he has considered the proceedings and recommendations of the Commonwealth Education Conference; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. WoodI have studied the report of the fifth Commonwealth Education Conference, which made a number of recommendations covering different aspects of educational development in the Commonwealth. We are co-operating with the Commonwealth Education Liaison Committee in its consideration of these recommendations and shall have them in mind when we put into effect the new British initiatives which were discussed and welcomed at the conference. In view of the special importance of youth training and youth problems, my Department is taking part in a regional seminar at Kuala Lumpur which is discussing these problems in the Asian and Pacific areas.
