HC Deb 05 August 1971 vol 822 c464W
Dr. Vaughan

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, in view of the growth and potential importance of the United Kingdom vineyard industry, if he will consider taking steps to stop the use of the term, British wine, except for such products as are produced from grapes grown in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Anthony Stodart

No case has been established that the rate of growth of the United Kingdom vineyard industry is determined by, or significantly influenced by, the nomenclature to which the Question refers.
