HC Deb 05 August 1971 vol 822 cc387-9W
35. Mr. Mackie

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he is satisfied that the Agriculture and Horticulture Training Board has adequate funds to meet the application for training in these two fields; and if he will make a statement.

for Great Britain instead of for the United Kingdom.

Mr. Bryan

The board has adequate funds to meet applications for grants for training carried out in the year ending 3rd August, 1971. The board's recent estimates of applications for grants for training in the subsequent year indicated that grant expenditure would exceed the funds likely to be available next year. The board has decided to meet this situation by limiting the number of new entrants for which it will be liable to pay grants.
