asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the number of persons appointed as Traffic Commissioners in each of the last three years; and by which organisations or public bodies they were nominated.

Traffic commissioners (other than the permanent Chairmen) hold office for periods of up to three years and may be reappointed. The number of new appointments in the last three years are:
