HC Deb 04 August 1971 vol 822 c306W
Mr. Tugendhat

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he has made any arrangements to ensure that the contents of Audley End House, which is in his care, are retained for the benefit of visitors.

Mr. Channon

I am glad to announce that this has now been achieved. The Department has purchased from their owner, the hon. Robin Neville, a substantial nucleus of the contents of this notable early Jacobean mansion, which was itself acquired by the Government in 1950. For his part Mr. Neville has very generously agreed to leave the remainder on indefinite loan.
