§ 36. Mr. Clinton Davisasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will 248W introduce legislation to enable school-leavers under the age of 16 years, who are unable to find work, to claim benefit if they are registered at an employment exchange.
§ Mr. DeanThere is no lower age-limit for unemployment benefit, but the normal contribution conditions have of course to be satisfied. There is, however, a lower age-limit of 16 for supplementary benefit, and the Government agree with their predecessors that the age-limit should be maintained.
