§ Mr. Tebbitasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he has received the recommendation of the Construction Research Advisory Council that expenditure on construction research should be doubled; and whether he will make a statement on the action he proposes to take.
§ Mr. AmeryMy Department has already acted on the council's recommendation and has placed a number of research contracts with research associations, universities and industrial firms. The future level of support and the question of an increased contribution to construction research by the Building Research Station is being considered as part of the current review of the Department's research programme. My Department has also brought the council's recommendation to the notice of other organisations sponsoring construction research, such as the Science Research Council.
