§ 11. Mr. Molloyasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make a further statement regarding the implementation of the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act.
§ Mr. AlisonMy right hon. Friend intends shortly to give guidance to local authorities on carrying out their duties under Section 1 of the Act and on the development of services under Section 2.
§ 30. Mr. Lathamasked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will list the provisions of the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act, 1970, which provide for a chronically sick or disabled person resident in a private nursing home to be treated in the same way that a chronically sick or disabled person is provided for who lives in his own home.
§ Mr. AlisonUnder Section 2 of the Act, which I assume the hon. Member has in mind, each responsible local authority has the duty of deciding whether any substantially and permanently handicapped person ordinarily resident in its area, including a person in a private nursing home, needs a service covered by the Section, and if so of arranging for it.
