HC Deb 02 August 1971 vol 822 c240W
Dr. Dickson Mabon

asked the Lord Advocate what steps he is taking to prevent the liquidation of Upper Clyde Shipbuilders prior to the ascertainment of the views of the creditors; and whether he will make a statement.

The Lord Advocate

An order that Upper Clyde Shipbuilders be wound up under the provisions of the Companies Act, 1948, was pronounced by the court on Friday, 30th July. I have no locus to intervene in these proceedings.

It is competent to any creditor to apply to the court at any time after an order for winding up has been made to stay all proceedings in relation to the winding up by virtue of the provisions of Section 256 of the Companies Act, 1948.
