Mr. Sutcliffeasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he is aware 69W that during school holidays teachers on temporary supply contract are classed neither as employed for insurance contribution purposes nor as unemployed for unemployment and sickness benefit purposes under Regulation 7(1)(j) of the National Insurance Regulations, 1967; and if he will seek a solution to this problem.
§ Mr. DeanI am aware that this is the position where the independent determining authorities decide that the employment of the supply teacher has not terminated but has been suspended during the holidays. We have no proposals to amend Regulation 7(1)(j) of the National Insurance (Unemployment and Sickness Benefit) Regulations.
