Mr. J. H. Osborn

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) what percentage of the capital formation is now in the public sector; how this compares with the previous five years; and what estimate he will make to be the trend in the next five years;

(2) what percentage of the national income is now attributable to the public sector; how this compares with the pre- vious five years; and what estimate he makes of the trend in the next five years.

I cannot make any estimates of the trend over the next five years without making such a wide range of assumptions as to make those estimates of little value.
