The table below shows the total numbers registered as unemployed at April, 1971 and April, 1970. Notified vacancies remaining unfilled, which do not purport to measure the total unsatisfied demand for labour, are analysed by occupation in March, June, September and December. The analysis distinguishes vacancies in certain labouring and analogous occupations which can be regarded as unskilled and those for March, 1971 and March, 1970 are shown in the table.
