HC Deb 21 April 1971 vol 815 c408W
Mr. Elystan Morgan

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what special policies he now has to reduce the level of unemployment in Wales, in view of the latest figures.

Mr. Peter Thomas

The Government's overall policies are directed to strengthening the economy of the United Kingdom; and Wales, in common with other parts of the country, will benefit from them.

Mr. Elystan Morgan

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if, in view of the level of unemployment in Wales, he will release special funds to local authorities so as to enable them to seek to reduce the level of unemployment in their respective areas.

Mr. Peter Thomas

Public expenditure in Wales, including expenditure on locally determined schemes, is already planned to be significantly higher in the current financial year than last year.
