HC Deb 21 April 1971 vol 815 cc390-1W
Mr. J. H. Osborn

asked the Minister of Aviation Supply what civil and military development projects and feasibility studies he is now sponsoring within the aerospace industry with a view to promoting full orderbooks for the late 1970's and early 1980's; and whether he has now made a decision about including short take-off and landing and vertical take-off and landing aircraft in this.

Mr. David Price

I have been asked to reply.

Responsibility for the industry's workload rests with the industry itself. I foresee however a continuing load of military work through procurement for H.M. Services.

On the civil side the initiative lies with the manufacturers but my right hon Friend is prepared to consider any applications for Government launching aid.

On V.S.T.O.L. I have nothing to add to my statements of 10th February and 24th March.—[Vol. 811, c. 510–12; 814, c. 526–8.]
