HL Deb 20 April 1971 vol 317 cc632-4WA
LORD FERRIER

asked Her Majesty's Government:

When a new Chairman of The National Broadcasting Council for Scotland will be appointed; and to inquire whether, in view of the growing public criticism of the content of the television programmes broadcast by B.B.C., Scotland, they are satisfied that, without a Chairman, the Scottish Board has been fulfilling the requirements of Clause 10(4)(b) of the Royal Charter.

LORD DENHAM

Her Majesty's Government hope that an appointment will be announced very soon of a new National Governor for Scotland, who will beex-officio Chairman of the National Broadcasting Council for Scotland. The Government see no reason to doubt that the Scottish National Broadcasting Council is fulfilling its functions as laid down in the Royal Charter.

House adjourned at twenty-six minutes before eight o'clock.
