§ Mr. Darlingasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry when he expects to complete his survey of scrap supplies for steel works; and if he is now able to state when he intends to remove export controls on domestic scrap and provide a free market for scrap processors.
§ Mr. RidleyA study of short-term demand has been completed; work is proceeding on a review of the long-term position. Poorer qualities of steel scrap were freed from export controls on 29th March. The Scrap Federation's request for further relaxation of controls is being considered urgently.
