§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department why he did not lay amending regulations to Rive effect to police pay increases by the end of March; when he now expects to lay these regulations; and whether he will make a statement.
§ Mr. MaudlingAs I explained to the hon. Member in my letter of 30th March, it was impossible because of technical difficulties to lay the regulations in March. I expect to lay them this month. No one will lose by this as the new rates of pay will be back-dated to 1st September, 1970.
