HC Deb 02 April 1971 vol 814 cc448-9W
Mr. James Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the number of men over 21 years of age in North Lanarkshire whose gross earnings are less than £15 per week.

Mr. Bryan

I regret that analyses of weekly earnings are not available for counties and other areas smaller than the standard regions of Scotland.

Mr. James Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the number of men of 21 years of age and over who are earning less than £15 gross in Scotland.

Mr. Bryan

It is estimated from the New Earnings Survey that in April, 1970, there were about 49,000 full-time men aged 21 and over whose earnings were not affected by absence with gross weekly earnings of less than £15, excluding income in kind and tips but including the average weekly value of annual and other periodical bonus and commission payments.
