HC Deb 02 April 1971 vol 814 cc445-6W
Mr. Roy Hughes

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food when the term of office expires of the four harbour commissioners appointed by him at Newlyn, Cornwall; and, in view of the unsatisfactory state of industrial relations there, if he will consider inviting interested bodies to submit the names of suitable nominees.

Mr. Prior

The terms expire on different dates, at which I bear in mind all possibilities, including re-appointment, but as I explained in my reply of 29th March to the hon. Member my appointments are not made on the nomination of any other body.

I do not in any case accept that the difficulties the hon. Member has in mind, or their solution, can be linked specifically with the choice for Ministerial appointments. I am however looking into the position in a wider context.—[Vol. 814, c. 293.]
