HC Deb 30 October 1970 vol 805 cc239-40W
Mr. Elystan Morgan

asked the Secretary of State for Wales how it is proposed to finance the new Welsh Teaching Hospital; and if he will give an undertaking that this will not mean the closure of any other hospitals.

Mr. Gibson-Watt

The capital cost of the University Hospital of Wales, Heath, Cardiff, is being met by the Welsh Hospital Board from funds made available by my Department; the net additional revenue costs of the new hospital and of the consequential changes in the services provided by other hospitals will also be met from funds provided by my Department.

My right hon. and learned Friend is currently considering the proposals of the Welsh Hospital Board for the consequential reorganisation of the hospital service in the Cardiff area. He is not yet in a position to make a statement.
