Mr. Willey

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry how many men and women, respectively, are employed in Government-financed factories in the Northern Region at the latest available date.

Mr. Anthony Grant

In August, 1970, 37,910 men and 40,580 women were employed in factories provided under the Local Employment Acts. These figures exclude employment in factories provided by the Department but which have been sold.
