HC Deb 30 October 1970 vol 805 cc237-8W
Mr. Mudd

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what was the maximum permitted quota of imports of fishing reels from Japan to the United Kingdom for each of the years 1963 to 1969.

Mr. Ridley

There were no quota restrictions on these imports during the period.

In 1967 following inter-industry discussions Japanese exports of fixed spool reels to the United Kingdom were voluntarily limited to 200,000 reels.

Mr. Mudd

Mr. Ridley

In 1963 and 1964 imports of fishing reels were not separately recorded.

Imports from Japan in subsequent years were as follows:

1967 171,385
