§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether, in future, when publishing the annual statistics of offences relating to motor vehicles, he will include the offence of failing to have and display a current Road Fund licence; and whether he will also give the total annual amount of fines imposed each year with the amounts outstanding from previous years.
§ Mr. SharplesThe annual volumes of the Criminal Statistics show the number of persons proceeded against for the offence of using or keeping a vehicle on a public road without a licence and the number of persons fined. Statistics of the offence of using or keeping a vehicle on a public road without exhibiting a motor vehicle licence are published in the annual Return of Offences relating to Motor Vehicles, which shows the total amounts of fines imposed. Information about the amounts of these fines outstanding from previous years could not be provided without disproportionate cost.
