Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will give the actual or estimated cost per week or per annum to his Department of the cost, allowing for depreciation, road tax, road insurance repairs, garaging, petrol for 10,000 miles per annum, servicing, and the cost of a male chauffeur with selective employment tax, of the running of a Rover 3000 car.

The estimated annual cost of a Rover 3.5 saloon car covering 10,000 miles, allowing for depreciation, maintenance, fuel and accommodation costs is £1,000. Road tax is not paid on Government cars; nor are they insured.
