§ Mr. van StraubenzeeDuring 1969 the number of children in maintained nursery schools together with those under five in maintained primary schools (excluding rising five's) rose from 125,000 to 141,000. The places so far approved under the urban programme will provide nursery education for at least another 10,000 children.
