HC Deb 29 October 1970 vol 805 c176W
92. Mr. Rose

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what measures have been taken by the manufacturers of fireworks to increase safety precautions since 5th November, 1966.

Mr. Sharples

Certain types of firework have been modified or discontinued; packaging and labelling of fireworks have been improved; the manufacturers have asked retailers not to sell bangers until after 1st October; and each year they have conducted an extensive publicity campaign. This year, they are distributing posters and leaflets to draw attention to a new firework safety code which has been prepared in consultation with the Home Office and interested safety organisations.
