HC Deb 29 October 1970 vol 805 c168W
55. Mr. Molloy

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is satisfied with the operation of the law regarding the sale of firearms; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Sharples

The sale of firearms is strictly controlled by law. My right hon. Friend is keeping the operation of the controls under review but has at present no changes to propose.

Mr. Carter

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will introduce legislation banning the public sale or transfer of military and non-sporting firearms.

Mr. Sharples

The purchase and possession of these firearms are already subject to strict controls.
