§ Mr. SharplesUnder the Dangerous Drugs (Notification of Addicts) Regulations, 1968, medical practitioners are required to notify the Chief Medical Officer at the Home Office of the names of persons whom they consider, or have reasonable grounds to suspect, to be addicted to any drug controlled under Part I of the Schedule to the Dangerous Drugs Act, 1965. The Home Office keeps a record of these notifications.
