HC Deb 29 October 1970 vol 805 c182W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is aware of the increasing amount of time and energy being wasted upon the part of the police and of the waste of public money, in answering the recurring false-operating burglar alarms; and whether he will seek to impose on the firms and persons concerned a charge for more than one false alarm on any given week.

Mr. Sharples

False calls from burglar alarms certainly place a burden on the police, but I think there are better ways of reducing them than by imposing charges.
