HC Deb 28 October 1970 vol 805 c144W
Mr. Cronin

asked the Minister of State for Defence what formal training in man management is received by officer cadets of the Army and the Royal Air Force.

Mr. Lambton

Great emphasis is placed on man management training for Army officer cadets at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, and the Mons Officer Cadet School. The same is true for R.A.F. officer cadets at the R.A.F. College, Cranwell, and at the Officer Cadet Training Unit, Henlow. This subject, which covers leadership, the exercise of command, welfare, morale, communication and behavioural science, is introduced in several aspects of the cadets' work. Formal training in man management amounts to about 80 hours at Sandhurst and Cranwell and about 40 hours at Mons and Henlow.
