HC Deb 28 October 1970 vol 805 cc138-9W
Mr. Ironmonger

asked the Attorney-General if he will bring to the attention of the Director of Public Prosecutions the evidence of perjury and conspiracy by detectives employed by a store in Rom-ford in connection with the charge of stealing brought against Mrs. Molly Horne at Havering Court on Tuesday, 21st April, of which charge the accused was acquitted in appeal by the North East London Quarter Sessions.

The Attorney-General

The case to which the hon. Member refers has been investigated by the Director of Public Prosecutions as a result of a complaint to the local police by the husband of this lady. It is the Director's view, with which I agree, that there is no evidence of a conspiracy to pervert the course of justice or perjury by these store detectives.
