Mr. Roger White

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what increases he proposes in the charges for elastic hosiery; and what new charges will be made for certain appliances supplied by hospitals.

Unless the patient is exempt the charge for elastic hosiery supplied under the pharmaceutical service or to a hospital out-patient will be 10s. per piece, except for an anklet, legging, kneecap or thigh piece, for which the charge will be 5s. per piece. There will be charges of£7 10s. for a bespoke wig (£15 for a pair) and£2 10s. for a stock wig (£5 a pair); cleaning will as now be free. A fabric support supplied to a hospital out-patient will be charged at£2.
