HC Deb 27 October 1970 vol 805 cc93-4W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Prime Minister whether, as a means of expediting replies to Members of Parliament and for the transaction of urgent Ministerial business, he will arrange that during long Parliamentary Recesses at least one Minister or Junior Minister attends each Department at least one day each week to sign correspondence and attend to accumulated business.

The Prime Minister

It is the normal practice for the Minister in charge of each Department to ensure that during Recesses at least one member of his Ministerial team is in attendance or otherwise available for Departmental duties.
