§ Mr. Anthony StodartEncouragement to the use of fertilisers is given by the subsidy scheme under which a contribution of about 27 per cent. is at present made towards farmers' costs. The increases in guaranteed prices for certain of the main farming commodities announced earlier this month should also help in this direction. I do not consider that further encouragement is necessary.
