HC Deb 27 October 1970 vol 805 c83W
92. Sir C. Bossom

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, in view of the difficulties experienced by fruit growers in 1970, if he will state without delay the measures he proposes to take regarding the January-June dessert apple import quota.

Mr. Noble

The Government have decided, after taking account of all the interests involved, to fix the quota for fresh apples at 68,750 tons, which is the same level as for January-June 1970.

Sir C. Bossom

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will state the results of his discussions with regard to representations made by the National Farmers' Union for a reduction in the January-June 1971 dessert apple import quota.

Mr. Noble

I would refer my hon. Friend to my reply given today.
