§ 76. Sir R. Russellasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if, in view of the further hi-jackings of aircraft which have occurred in recent weeks, he will request an emergency meeting of the International Civil Aviation Organisation to consider the draft convention on the prevention of hi-jacking.
§ Mr. GodberThe draft Convention on Unlawful Seizure of Aircraft, drawn up by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (I.C.A.O.) earlier this year, will be considered and finalised at a Diplomatic Conference in The Hague in December. To try to change the arrangements for this important Conference would, I fear, not be possible. Our objectives of rapid conclusion and wide adherence to the Convention have, however, assumed even greater importance as a result of recent events.
