§ Mr. Anthony StodartOverall the harvest has been disappointing. Due to difficult weather conditions yields of spring-sown cereals have generally been well below average. Winter wheat was hardly affected by the weather, however, and has yielded well. I would not expect total cereal production to differ significantly from the average of the past two years. There is likely to be a surplus of maincrop potatoes. It is too early to assess the prospects for the yield of sugar from the beet crop.
