asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what recent estimate has been made of the number of wild geese in Great Britain; and what was the number counted in Perthshire.

The most recent estimate of the summer population of wild geese in Great Britain is about 10,000, augmented to a maximum of about 175,000 in winter.

In the last three years the number of wild geese counted in Perthshire in November was:
